Our Wines
“With minimal impact on our beautiful surroundings and remarkable terroir, we simply aim to make wines that are both delicious and of the highest quality.”
After centuries of winemaking at Château La Yotte, we are writing a new chapter. What first stunned us was the sheer diversity of terroir in Loupiac—from the steep limestone slopes down to the banks of the Garonne. Guided by extensive soil studies and the realities of a changing climate, we replanted our vineyards with rootstocks and varieties chosen not just for today, but for the decades to come. The first wines where all six varieties contribute were bottled in 2024.
With six red varieties in the ground, and countless combinations of clones and rootstocks, our vineyard is a living library of Bordeaux past and future. Each choice was made with organic viticulture and a warming climate in mind. History guided us: two centuries ago, these slopes produced some of their finest wines with Cabernet Franc on limestone and Malbec as a dominant force in the region—so we planted them again. Petit Verdot found its place in sandy soils, rewarding us with spice even if it guarantees a few sleepless nights. Touriga Nacional was given the perfect plot to show both its perfume and power, while Castets—nearly forgotten in Bordeaux—was brought back from obscurity. And of course, we planted Merlot, ensuring that depth, generosity, and mid-palate elegance remain at the heart of our blends.
Not all our plantings are red. We also gave Chenin Blanc a home here, having found the perfect corner of the estate for it—and the vines are thriving. They seem to love their new surroundings. Stay tuned.
La Yotte - Our Creme de la Creme
By design, we will never lack for ripe fruit, vibrant acidity, or firm tannins. Six varieties, multiple clones, and diverse soils give us a kaleidoscope of components—enough to drive our cellar team mad, but to make our oenologist euphoric. Each variety is aged separately for at least 12 months in classic 225 litres French oak barriques, before marrying into a wine of elegance, longevity, and ambition. We aim unapologetically high.
La Yotte shows itself with an intensity of crème de cassis, dark cherries, and spice, unfolding into a finish that lingers long after the glass is set down. It can be enjoyed now with a little air, yet it carries the structure and depth to live gracefully for decades.

Rosé - Refreshing but with character
For sunny days, our crisp rosé—made by bleeding Malbec and Merlot vats—is essential. We aim for refreshing acidity and lower alcohol, making it as drinkable as it is serious. Fermented cool and slow, it offers wild strawberry, raspberry, and lingonberry, underpinned by a surprising structure and length. Perfect with grilled fish, vegetables, or a salad niçoise—or simply as an apéritif. Sunshine helps, but isn’t required.
Rosé has been met with critical acclaim, and we’ve humbly lost count of how many people have told us it changed their view of rosé altogether—revealing it as a wine of real seriousness, not just a summer diversion.

Milan - Elegant yet racy
Named after the milan, the red kite that graces both the skies of southern Sweden and Bordeaux, this wine embodies elegance in motion. Unoaked, bright, and best enjoyed slightly chilled, Milan carries all the hallmarks of Bordeaux—ripe fruit, freshness, finesse—yet dances with a lighter step. It’s our ode to summer skies, migration, and the joy of an unpretentious glass that still whispers grand vin.
Milan brims with blackberry jam, violets, sweet liquorice, and a lift of exotic spice. It is elegant yet racy, unoaked and energetic, a wine that delivers both charm and character, especially when lightly chilled to 16 degrees.

Fontaine - Spice and structure
Fontaine is our Grand Vin, named for the Fontainemarie family who made wine at this estate for centuries. On these spectacular limestone slopes, they once produced Loupiac’s best sweet wines alongside reds, rosés, and whites, always with quality and longevity as guiding stars.
In their honour, Fontaine is crafted as a cuvée of character: unapologetically punchy, with deep, spicy red fruit and a spine that demands patience. Time will reward it richly, but even in youth its vibrancy is undeniable—it has the bones, and it knows it.

And much more…
We dare to say that there is not a winery like ours. The feedback from our neighbours when robots work the parcels of Tourigas and Castets range from applause to remarks that we are barking mad. We respond by making a wine principally by our grapes not allowed in any great quantity in the appellation, hence this cuvee is a ”vin de France”. Emphasising just how different a wine this is, we ask patients at an open mental hospital in a neighbouring village to make us art we can use as labels, which hence will be different each year. Parts of sales are reinvested in local charities. We are just beyond excited about this series!
We also want to present the monocépages, the single varieties, and even more interesting combinations where 1+1 equals more than 2.
